Dota 2 is a five-versus-five team game in which each player controls single character. Characters are called heroes in Dota 2. Each hero has unique set of abilities, spells and play style. Matches are played on a map with three lanes. Each team's base is in opposing corners of the map. Lanes are called top, mid and bottom or safe lane. Every lane has defence towers. Towers will attack any enemy players or creeps near them. Players pick their heroes and their roles in the beginning of a match. Roles are carry, support, mid and roamer. Each hero has their own strengths, weaknesses and roles. Few heroes can even be played either in carry or support role. The aim of a Dota 2 game is to destroy opponents main building called Ancient. Players play on the side of the dire or radiant.
In order to win a game of Dota 2 each team has to work together and farm creeps for experience and gold. When the match starts before countdown reaches to zero there are no creeps on the map. After countdown reaches to zero every lane starts spawning creep wave every 30 seconds. Creep waves start running towards enemy base and they will attack any enemy creep or player they come across. If a player kills enemy creeps faster than they spawn the lane will push towards enemy base. If creep wave comes to range of a tower it will also attack it. Towers are objectives before a team can really destroy enemy's base. If a team destroys three towers from enemy's lane they can attack towers guarding enemy's ancient. On each lane behind third tower is buildings called barracks. If a team destroy enemy's barracks that lane spawns lot less creeps and your own creeps get stronger. If all barracks's are destroyed team who destroys them gets upgrade called mega creeps to their own lanes. Mega creeps are very strong creeps and they are considered almost sure win.
